We live in an exciting, challenging and sometimes scary time of history. It’s really not that much different than any other time in history but it’s our time and that makes it significant – at least to us.
Like people of the past we are confronting war, climate changes, economic fluctuations, nutritional scarcities and disease.
We can not make light of these issues as they are real and affect all of us in some way. Currently, public health has grabbed the spotlight and we need to do everything we can to protect and maintain our abundant state of fitness.
The key, is to take a causative approach. This should quell feelings of apathy and fear. Staying causative means not only protecting and consolidating the fitness gains you have but taking precautions to avoid getting sick and subsequently infecting others.
This is gym life 101 but let’s reiterate. The precautions recommended below should be the exact same ones you already take regardless of what’s happening locally or globally.
1. Use common sense. If you don’t feel well, please stay home. We are always here for you. Rest, hydrate, recover and then train.
2. Wash and/or sanitize your hands regularly – especially after working out in the gym. Here at ATOMIC we have plenty of soap and hand sanitizer. Additionally, we will be doubling our normal cleaning schedule to keep the bathrooms extra shiny.
3. While washing your hands, sing “Happy Birthday” two times while you are lathering up with the soap. Don’t forget your cuticles, thumbs, between your fingers and under your nails.
4. Practice mindfulness with regards to where you place your hands. Do not touch your face and try to become aware of everything you touch when out in public. This is not supposed to create neuroses but rather elevated awareness. See if you can relax into this moment and realize it’s unlikely that there are any immediate threats to your life within close proximity. Deep, full and relaxed breathing through the nose is recommended.
When in doubt, apply #1 above. If you have any questions or concerns please get back to us here.
Yours always in health and wellness,
Adam & Team ATOMIC
